Recently picked up some fermented soda at big lots called cas cal. Anyone heard of this? How is it made?

From their website:
Cascal is a delicious, natural soft drink crafted with natural
juices and fermented* for fuller flavor. It is complex yet has
a refreshingly light and bubbly taste. The flavors range
from more delicate to more robust and are the perfect
complement to a meal or as a stand-alone refreshment.

*Cascal is made with fermented juice.

So it sounds like it's not fermented for carbonation.

Actually, sometimes they use malt syrup for some fermentation. At least they did when they first came out, since I wasn't able to drink two of them.

Its alcohol free and sweetened with truvia. I bought a case of them @ $0.20 a can!
