DME vs. Sugar For Carbonation

Generally 1 1/4 cup (about 7.5 oz.) per five gallon batch. Mine are usually minimally drinkable in around 18 days, but 4 weeks will do for sure. Hefe's or other beers that call for a little more carb, I use 1 1/2 cups (9 oz.).

Dude, you forgot to say it! You know, those four words you love to say...
 
I use between 5oz and 9oz (on my scale) depending on the style. Try this to figure out how much ya want, think it gives everything in wieghts (ounces)though and not volume (cups)

Great tip! And since sugar is 95% fermentable and DME is 55%, it's about sugar weight x 1.73 (might as well make that 1-3/4) to get DME weight, which helps a lot with recipe conversion.
