Winterizing Hop Plants?

It might be a little late but is there anything I need to do (or should have done) to winterize my hop plants? I couldn't find any mention of it in any of the hop growing articles I have seen.

I cut mine off at ground level and pile leaves on top. I rake the leaves off in March when the weather starts to turn.

+1 I don't know if we read it anywhere. But, it seemed like the right thing to do for swmbo and I.
 
Cutting back and covering is usually standard practice for New England winterization of plants. Having never had hops until now i just treated them like any other plant in the yard.
