So I bought my first hydrometer, but the online calculators I am having trouble understanding what my original and final gravity should be. Here's my recipe:
Partial mash English brown
Batch size 2.5gal

1.5 lbs Maris Otter
.5 50-60l Crystal
1/4 English brown
1/4 Flaked Barley

45 min at 155 degrees

2.5 lbs liquid malt extract

.5 oz Kent Golding hops buttering
.5 oz finishing

Windsor dry yeast

Somebody will probably give you a straight out answer based on knowledge.

But do what most of us do, use a brew software. BeerSmith has software you can download and use for 21 days for free. After that you have to pay 21 dollars for lifetime use. Not a bad deal.

I am not affiliated with BeerSmith in any way other than using it.

If I recall correctly, LME will give you about 37 points per pound and DME will give you about 42-43 points per pound. When mashing, it depends on your efficiency.

Have you tried hopville.com yet?
It comes up with 1.032 OG and 1.009 FG 75% efficiency. ABV would be 3.1%.
It doesn't have all the bells and whistles that BeerSmith has but it works for me.
