Hi,

I'm brewing a Kölsch next monday using White Labs' WLP029 German Ale/ Kölsch Yeast.

Thing is, it will be a 11 gallons batch and, around all 3 homebrew shops nearby, I could only find one vial.

Therefore, I bought some DME and I'm going to do my first starter ever.

I won't have the time to step-up the starter, therefore I plan on making a 3 liter starter at 1.040 and tossing the vial in there.

I have some Fermaid K laying around... Now, I know this yeast nutrient is more aimed at wine/mead making, but would it still put more chance toward getting a healthy cell growth than not using any nutrient at all, or could it make matter worse ? (I doubt it, but still asking).

Im really not sure if it is ideal in starters or not, but I have used it a couple times when Ive been out of basic yeast nutrient. No problems.
