In the "Brewing Classic Styles Book" they recommend to use Nylon paint strainer bags from a paint store and I did find some there and they are a lot cheaper than the Nylon strainers at my LHBS. They do say 100% Nylon, but does anyone know if these can handle the high temperatures for steeping and mashing? I wonder if there are even different types of Nylon out there?

I use them in my boil for hops additions. Have a huge nylon Voile bag for my mash (BIAB). No issues what so ever.

One tip. You can buy them even cheaper from Lowe's/Home Depot too.

yep.. i get 2 packs of the 5 gallon ones at lowes and they've worked great.. they last about 10 five gallon batches for me before they start to look too weird for me to comfortably use anymore

Works fine for me too. Still using one of my originals, but as more of a coarse filter to my fine voile bag.
