I am trying to create my first recipe from scratch. I am looking for a medium hoppy, rye ale. Here is what I have so far. Any comments/advice will be appreciated. I chose the yeast because it is described as having peppery flavors which I thought would compliment the rye. Thanks for your ideas.

9# American 2-Row
1# Rye
1/2# Cara Munich I
1/2# Caramel 20L Briess

Columbus 1 oz 60 minutes
Chinook 1/2 oz 20 minutes
Chinook 1/2 oz 5 minutes
Columbus 1 oz dry hop

Safbrew T-58

Thanks. Should I up the rye or lower the hops? How about 8# American 2-Row
and 2# Rye? I think my IBUs are in the 50-55 range right now.

I've made one beer with T-58. I thought it was gross. Tons of dirty, plasticky phenol.
