According to them, Budweiser is a "lager" while Miller is
a "pilsner".

I would call them both "American Style Lagers" as they are very lightly hopped and use corn and rice as adjuncts. Pilsners are supposed to have a very clear presence of noble hops, and more specifically, Czech noble hops such as Saaz. Doesn't Miller use Hallertauer and Bud Williamette?
