Well, I broke down and got myself a magnetic stirrer. Ebay, $27.00, what can I say?

I had one but it is at the brewery, so I thought I would get one for home.

Got to build up that yeast!
 
Thats a good deal, it costs a little less to build one yourself but this way you don't have to do the building.

Make sure it doesn't have a built in heater, some of them do and they overheat the starter.
