I've had a few bombers of this years Stone Vertical Epic and I love this stuff. They just released the recipe in their blog. Lots of spices. So much is kinda scares me. I've made a batch of spiced beer before and I way overdid it.

Has anybody tried their hand at this yet? If so, what recipe did you use and how did it turn out?

This is the recipe I was considering doing for a 5.5 gal batch.

11 lbs Pale Malt (2 Row) US (2.0 SRM)
2 lbs 8.0 oz Caramel/Crystal Malt - 10L
2 lbs 4.0 oz Caramel/Crystal Malt - 60L
1 lbs 12.0 oz Vienna Malt
1 lbs 8.0 oz Wheat Malt, Dark
2 lbs Candi Sugar, Dark
1.00 oz Simcoe [13.00 %] - Boil 90.0 min
0.14 oz Allspice (Boil 90.0 mins)
0.14 oz Cinnamon, ground (Boil 90.0 mins)
0.14 oz Orange Peel, Sweet (Boil 90.0 mins)
0.14 oz Rosehips, ground (Boil 90.0 mins)
0.08 oz Clove (Boil 90.0 mins)
1.00 oz Tettnang [4.50 %] - Boil 30.0 min
1.00 oz Willamette [5.50 %] - Boil 30.0 min
0.05 oz Cinnamon Stick (Boil 30.0 mins)
0.05 oz Nutmeg (Boil 30.0 mins)
0.03 oz Clove, ground (Boil 30.0 mins)
1.20 oz Allspice (Boil 0.0 mins)
1.20 oz Cinnamon Stick (Boil 0.0 mins)
1.20 oz Clove, ground (Boil 0.0 mins)
1.20 oz Orange Peel, Sweet (Boil 0.0 mins)
1.0 pkg Trappist High Gravity (Wyeast Labs #3787)

The 90 minute spice addition would be in the mash.

I had the epic on tap at a local pub, and first thing I thought was cinnamon. No wonder. You should give it a shot!

I've got it loaded in Beersmith, just have no idea when I'll get around to brewing it. I think the final count for growler fills for me was 4 times. Kept bringing back both my 1 liters to get refilled, I loved this one. I might brew it somewhere toward the end of summer to have it ready by Christmas, since the spices felt really "Christmassy" to me.

Did you do this how did it work out?
