While this may be a silly question, I am traveling to Vegas and I always like to try beers that I cannot get on the East Coast so I am looking for suggestions of some beers worth trying in Sin City. :mug:

I'm not one to suggest beers (I rarely drink anything but homebrew) but I recently was in LV and took a trip to Freakin Frog on South Maryland and they have a nice selection of beers...and scotch too if you're into that. You can take unopened bottles with you but it's full-service bar prices.

I don't know if it still is going on but when I was out there last November I went to "The Pub" in Monte Carlo hotel. There were taps galore. When I asked for a beer list the bartender gave me a good thick book that looked like a novel :mug:

When I ordered the bartender asked if I was there for happy hour (5-7 I believe), I said "Sure whats happy hour? Discount appetizers or something?" She replies "Buy one, get one". "Buy one get one, what?" I asked. She then told me that their happy hour is BOGO beers!!!:tank: You have to get the same beer you just had and there is no sharing with your friends but none the less we spent the rest of our happy hours there. Everyone else had appetizers or one of the Big 3 beers on special. The prices weren't too steep either. If you think your getting 2 beers it was well worth it.

Two places that I have had Micro's in Vegas.

First in the Aladdin's underground passage (shopping center) I found a outlet for Sin City Brew. It was very tasty, but not much of a drinking atmosphere.

Second, off of the strip there is a little casino called Ellis Island, they brew on site and only charge a dollar for a pint (though I am not sure that it is even worth that much).

I actually really enjoyed the beers at Ellis. They weren't the greatest, but a good pub crawler. Usually, when we got up, we would go over to there and drink 5 or 6 and then hit the strip. Also, if you go to Ellis, they have an off menu special, you have to ask for it. Ribeye, potato, and a beer (root beer for the non alki's) for likle $5. Luck - Dwain

If you hike down to Excalibur you can take the monorail to mandalay bay and then walk through the passage to luxor and find the Burger Bar. Great burgers and great beer. They don't have a huge selection, but they do have some great options. It's the only bar I've come across (which that may not be saying much) that sold an Oud Bruin. Service is very nice.

You should also give Sin City a whirl. I hear the stout is pretty good. I really enjoyed the hefeweizen. Very tasty. I know there are several outlets, but I found a good sized one in the Flamingo by the pool.

+1 on the Burger Bar, but they have a HUGE selection by my standards. The Sin City place is in the Venetian mall (I think?). I loved their Pilsner... Also, the convenience stores on the strip sell huge ass snpa's for under three bucks. Which you can drink where ever. I love Vegas!

I think there are multiple Sin City outlets on the strip. I definitely know that the Flamingo has an outlet. I wouldn't be surprised to know that the Venetian has one too. It's a very reasonably priced alternative to BMC on the strip.

Im not sure if you get Stone where your at as they primarily distribute in West coast. But I know I've seen Stone IPA in a couple places the last time I was there. Sin City brewery is not bad, but when I was there, they only had 2 of there brews on tap.

The gourmetish hamburger place in the Mirage has a good selection. By the way, they serve Anchor Steam in the Mirage Poker room, so that is a plus if you play poker. I personally did not like Sin City, nor did my friend who went with me. When I was in Vegas in December there was no Sin City in the Venetian, it was in Planet Hollywood's ( formally The Aladdin ) Desert Passage. Main Street Station down by Freemont Street has a brew pub which I thought was decent, plus you can play video poker and drink their beer at the bar.

The Burger Bar (at Mandalay) has a good beer selection. So does Todd English PUB at Crystals at the City Center. The food at both is solid (the pastrami at TE Pub lives up to this New Yorker's high standards and all the food there was excellent). Also, while not something you'd usually do with a good beer, if you chug a pint in under 7 seconds at PUB you get it for free.... I'm not much of a chugger but was with a group of friends for a bachelor party and the contest went over pretty well as you could imagine.

As for beers to try, Stone, Green Flash, Speakeasy, and other west coast brewers should be readily available. Somehow, I always end up drinking Fat Tire when I'm out west. Nothing better than a pint of Fat Tire and some prime rib! (preferably after a day of skiing in Colorado powder but a night out in Vegas is a close 2nd)

There are a couple of good microbrew/restaurants outside the city (~20-30 min drive or so as I recall), so if you have a car, I'd look at those...I went to Big Dog, which was really, really good...their IPA was a west coast classic hop bomb with Cascade galore. Tenaya Creek's beer was very good, but I don't recall any particular standouts...the food was good at both places.

I'm from Las Vegas.

Big Dogs is like my favourite place. They have a restaurant in side so I can bring the wife and kid get good food and great beer.

I've never been to Ellis Island but I've heard good things.

I don't know if they have them back East but the The Yard House has something like 300 beers on tap!

Then there is also The Crown and Anchor it's like and English Style Pub.

I'm sure there's more but I don't go to bars very much.

As far as west coast brews Any thing from Pyramid is usually pretty good,

Stone was already mentioned, try the arrogant bastard ale if just to say you did.

Anchor has a ton of good beers when you can find them.

Buckbean Brewery is in Reno and they make this stout called Black Noddy. I haven't had it yet but my buddy at work says it's the best beer he's every drank.
