It died a peaceful death. It has been sick for a while, but today it passed away in its sleep.

Actually it has been a piece of crap for a couple years. If it lost power for any reason (power outage, moved it, etc...), it would not turn back on when power was restored. You would have to unplug it, and plug it back in 5 or 6 times before it would turn on and work. Within the last two months, if it was turned off with power button or remote, then 30% of the time you would have to follow the same procedure to get it to turn on.

Today it wouldn't turn on, and there doesn't seem to be a solution to the problem.

Seems unlikely that physically removing the plug from the outlet is making a difference. Plug it into a power strip so you can flip it on and off to save a little effort.

Unless there's a short in the cord, which should be easy to diagnose and fix.

It is actually a common problem with these TVs...I have done a bunch of research... The Westinghouse support line actually suggests unplugging it and plugging it back in several times until it works.

Very...we also use the power bar on and off with some success, but the power bar is behind tv and hard to reach....so I unplug and plug it in on the TV end of the power cord.
