What's your favorite lyric from one of your favorite songs?

Really don't mind if you sit this one out
My words but a whisper, your deafness, a shout
I may make you feel but I can't make you think
Your sperms in the gutter, your love's in the sink

Thick As A Brick-Jethro Tull

I've included all the lyrics to all the Pink Floyd songs below as the definitive answer to the OP's question. And, in an effort to fit them neatly into this thread, I compressed them into a very small ball. Here you go. I put Shine On you Crazy Diamond and Learning to Fly at the top of the list (look closely of course).

I'm up and gone at the crack of dawn
I've been working like a regular dog
To keep my woman and the lights and the water and the phone turned on
I've been saying yes sir all day at work
I've been saying yes ma'am at home
I've been storing up the f*** you's
Keepin' em under my tounge

- David Allan Coe, Time Off For Bad Behavior

I'm not innocent
Your not innocent
No one is innocent

TOOL.

But i am pretty sure I will change my favorites in a few...but for now ....these are them

Or

Other peoples lives seem more innocent cause they ain't mine

Modest Mouse

Then as it was, then again it will be
Though the course may change sometime the rivers always reach the sea
Changes fill my time, baby that's alright with me
In the midst I think of you and how it used to be
Led Zeppelin

Don't need a whore
I don't need no booze
Don't need a virgin priest
But I need someone I can cry to
I need someone to protect
Making love and breaking hearts
It is a game for youth
But I'm not waiting on a lady
I'm just waiting on a friend

Waiting on a Friend Rolling Stones

You called me strong, you called me weak
but still your secrets I will keep.
You took for granted all the times I
never let you down
You stumbled in and bumped your head,If
not for me then you`ed be dead
I picked you up and
put you back on solid ground.

Kryptonite - 3 Doors Down

"You ain't a beauty, but hey you’re alright.
Oh and that’s alright with me"

-- Bruce Springsteen

"I get drunk most every night/
seems like all we do is fight/
the more I drink, the more I feel blue...
Sometimes I feel like an awful fool/
spendin' my life on this old bar stool...
And yes, I guess they ought to name a drink after you!"

~John Prine

I'm going down to the Dew Drop in/
gonna drink till I get my fill/
There ain't much to country livin'
sweat, piss, jizz blood"

~Warren Zevon (RIP)

Well I'm an axe grinder, pile driver, Mama says that I never never mind her
Got no brains, I'm insane, the teacher says that i'm one big pain
I'm like a laser, 6 streamin' razor, I got a mouth like an alligator
I want it louder, more power, I'm gonna rock ya till it strikes the hour
Bang your head, Metal Health will drive you mad
Quiot Riot

I'm going to be a happy idiot and struggle for the legal tender
Where the ads take aim and lay their claim to the heart and soul of the spender
And believe in whatever may lie in those things that money can buy
Thought true love could have been a contender
Are you there? Say a prayer for the pretender

Ah Satan sees Natasha
No devil lived on
Lonely Tylenol
Not a banana baton
No "x" in "Nixon"
O, stone, be not so
O Geronimo, no minor ego
"Naomi", I moan
"A Toyota's a Toyota"
A dog, a panic in a pagoda

BOB - Weird Al

:mug:

It's one of my least favorite Al songs, but the concept is amazing. Plus, he sings it in a BOB DYLAN voice! (And notice Bob is also a palindrome and the nonsensical nature of the lyrics matches Dylan's style!)

The harmonica between verses is a nice touch too.

I was wondering what was so interesting about those Al lyrics!

I really love Quiet Riot. One of the most fun concerts I've attended! General Admission in Springfield, MA, loong time ago

When I was a child
I caught a fleeting glimpse
Out of the corner of my eye
I turned to look but it was gone
I cannot put my finger on it now
The child is grown
The dream is gone.

Comfortably numb, by Pink Floyd

One thing I have found, there's just two ways to go.
It all comes down to livin' fast dyin' slow.
Which way you gonna go?

Robert Earl Keen. Dreadful Selfish Crime.

Word to your moms
I came to drop bombs
I got more rhymes than the bible got psalms

You shut me off and you showed me the door
But you always came crawling back begging me for more
I showed you kindness, a stool, and a tab
Then you poured me my pain in a dirty glass
(Yeah, you left him bloody, battered, penniless, and poor)
You know, I often stopped and wondered how you made it through my door
With my brother's new non-duplicate registry ID
Well you bit off more than you could chew the first day you met me

Dropkick Murphys - The Dirty Glass

Rap songs have the funniest lyrics...

"Drop it to the floor
Make that ass shake
Woah make the ground move, that’s an ass quake
Built a house up on that ass, that’s an ass state
Roll my weed on it, that’s an ass tray"

...

"I'm using rubbers so they won't trace the semen
The black demon, got the little hookers screaming
Because you know I love it young, fresh and green
with no hair in between, know what I mean?"

Some break the rules, and live to count the cost
The insecurity is the thing that won't get lost
And you want her, and she wants you
We want everyone
And you want her, and she wants you
No one, no one, no one ever is to blame ...Howard Jones

Now Ev'ry gambler knows that the secret to survivin'
Is knowin' what to throw away and knowing what to keep.
'Cause ev'ry hand's a winner and ev'ry hand's a loser,
And the best that you can hope for is to die in your sleep."

Kenny Rogers

See the mistakes that Ive made
No they don't seem to bother me.
And I sure as hell don't feel like I've missed any kind of train.
If I could only show you how I feel
Then you wouldn't bother me.
Maybe then you'll see
Maybe then you'll see why we don't mind being blind
As I was as a little child.
And I'm feeling better when im high.
With a red light shining on,
Shining on a little unity.

He was so thin I swear you could have used him for a whip he had to drink a beer to keep his britches on his hips I knew I had to ask him about the mysteries of life he spit between his boots and he replied

"it's faster horses, younger women, older whiskey, and more money"

Faster Horses---Tom T Hall

"I've been robbed, I've been fooled
I intent now to make my own rules
Daggers edge cut the life, I've been down that road... too many times
What's to fear, fear no more
Show my conscience what fear's for
Now I know this is so real
What's done is done so do as you will!"

Never gonna give you up
Never gonna let you down
Never gonna run around and desert you
Never gonna make you cry
Never gonna say goodbye
Never gonna tell a lie and hurt you
