I was trying to convert Edwort's IPA recipe using beersmith. Here is the original:
Link
11# Pale
1# Munich
12 oz. Crystal 60L
Single Infusion for 90 minutes at 154 degrees.
1 oz. Warrior 60 minutes
1 oz. Centennial 15 minutes
1 oz. Centennial 5 minutes
Dry Yeast - Safale US-05
O.G. 1.065
F.G. 1.016
Dry Hop with 1 oz. Centennial
Beersmith's predictions:
Recipe Specifications
--------------------------
Batch Size: 5.50 gal
Boil Size: 7.33 gal
Estimated OG: 1.063 SG
Estimated Color: 9.0 SRM
Estimated IBU: 67.7 IBU
Brewhouse Efficiency: 75.00 %
Boil Time: 90 Minutes
Here is what I came up with adding half of the extract at flame out:
4.25 lb Extra Pale Malt Extract (2.5 SRM)
4.25 lb Extra Pale Malt Extract (2.5 SRM)
0.50 lb Munich Liquid Extract (12.5 SRM)
0.50 lb Munich Liquid Extract (12.5 SRM)
0.75 lb Caramel/Crystal Malt - 60L (60.0 SRM)
1.00 oz Warrior [15.00 %] (60 min)
1.00 oz Centennial [10.00 %] (15 min)
1.00 oz Centennial [10.00 %] (5 min)
1 Pkgs Safale US-05
1.00 oz Centennial [10.00 %] (dry hop)
Batch Size: 5.50 gal
Boil Size: 3.25 gal
Estimated OG: 1.064 SG
Estimated Color: 9.3 SRM
Estimated IBU: 65.8 IBU
Brewhouse Efficiency: - %
Boil Time: 60 Minutes
Does this look about right? I am still not sure how the IBUs could be about the same when it is not a full boil and using the same amount of hops.
