I used two scraped, chopped & soaked vanilla beans in a robust porter last winter. It was good, but the vanilla flavor does dissipate with time.

Took hops out of the freezer & LME, yeast outta the fridge for PM beer this morning. Won't get evaporator motor in till Friday, but wyeast smack pack still froze! dammit! I hope it'll still work?!

Probably Some of the finer grain stuff. Mt nylon grain bag is course mesh, & about a cup of grain stuff & hop debris gets through till I strain it into the FV.

You can boil water to make a hop tea. 60 minutes for bittering, 10-20 minutes boil for flavor. Dry hopping a week is for aroma.

I usually dry hop 7 days, but only after it settles out clear or slightly misty first. You don't want the hop oils coating trub & such then going to the bottom.
