Are you sure the braid was stainless? I've seen a lot of people have that problem because there are a lot of stainless look alike braids that are actually some type of plastic now.

Numbers listed for attenuation on wyeast/white labs sites or any homebrew forums are usually for apparent attenuation. Most of your primary fermentation will probably be done within 4-5 days anyway....

I'll try the WD-40 trick. I don't know how it could've rusted since I keep it outside the fridge and live in a relatively dry climate in CO. If that doesn't work, I guess I'll have to take it apart.

This the question. When do I decant my starter if it's on a stir plate. Do I chill after 2 days or so when the growth phase is finished? Do I let it ferment all the way out? Thanks for the help...
