It ended up close to an Indian brown ale - not really my taste, despite the 130+ IBUs a little too sweet. People loved it at my party((s) as it was quite different: big, black, thick, macho!

This was a very long ago post! As I recall it was 4 oz mostly late additions, IPA bitterness (60 IBUs?) and was fantastic. I think Simcoe is one of those few hops that are complex enough to stand...

I love my oat brown ale, and my oat Amber ale both using fawcett oat malt 10-15%. I just picked up Simpsons golden naked oats - any thoughts on this vs the fawcett malt?

Of course there is! It depends entirely on your rig so you'll have to brew, measure, adjust and brew again to get it right. Even a small change like changing your kettle can skew your results.
