Or you can use less water, instead of making a 5 gallon batch, make a 3 gallon batch. I also read here you make a smaller batch and once it starts fermenting you dump in more wort.

Your grain is absorbing .6 liters per lb, I usually get .5 qt per lb, you should look in to improving your system.

Got it, that's what I do to, in my set up I can monitor the wort and water in my cooler, it is easier for me to pitch around 75 and let it cool down rather then put carboy in cooler at 80 wait...
