Bottled my first brew and a question about Yeast Washing.

So I bottled my first brew, a Cream Stout kit from Midwest, this past Friday. Everything went better than expected. It was a little messy, but nothing too crazy.

The beer tasted great as it was...

If you don't mind, let us know how the experience goes. I live 30 minutes away, but have been to Heart's. Have heard mixed reviews about the service. Would like to see if it is worth the venture.

Haha, I love the foam. Especially in a blow-off rig. Sometimes it'll foam up and I can scoop the foam up and sniff it. I'm a foam sniffer. :rolleyes:

I use an aluminum pot to mash and boil in. As long as you build up the protective oxide layer on them the first time before you use 'em I think it is fine.

If I had that kind of cash I'd probably get the minimal amount of equipment to constitute a "nice" brew setup.

Probably some 15 gallon pots, a nice mash tun, a brew stand, wort chiller, etc....

I use water with some Star-San in my blow-off bucket.. Any sanitizer will work. Probably the only time you could use a bit of bleach too.
