Not sure why I didn't think of this earlier, but...

Not sure why I didn't think of this earlier, but a ratchet strap could be used keep the pressure on for a sustained period of time and probably get a slightly better yield.

Ohh I figured it was an abreviation but couldn't firgure it out. We started getting New Belgium here about a year ago, but I have not seen this La Folie yet. I agree with other 1554 is very good.

Killian's red is priced about the same as the BMC's and is pretty good for the money. We don't get it here in WI, but I really like Yuengling's Black & Tan.

Yeah I siphon into a funnel with a screen in the top of my carboy so there is pretty good aeration just from the transfer out of the kettle as well.

Well you guys were right, when pulling hydrometer sample s for the FG the color difference became apparent and the Irish ale was drier while the mild had more alcohol and hops flavor. Thanks all!
