Not the best picture but there is one right under the bubble on the top left and one on the right side. Basically the 2 white spots. They almost look like small balls of cotton.

Well im not sure what it is but there are like 3 1/2" spots that look like mold in the secondary. The beer is a honey brown that i haven't had the time to keg. Its been it the secondary for about 6...

I say if you have a 5 gal carboy brew 5 gallons. All you need for a blow off tube is a piece of hose. Use a milk jug with water and iodaphor < spelling.

If more yeast is better and some have good results pitching onto the yeast cake why only use half of the slurry? I do understand you can have too much yeast but i have heard it is really hard to do....

Yes you can remove the lid as that is the only way to test (that i know of);)
Also if you want a clearer beer rack into a secondary. If you just want something to drink then dont worry about it.

Mabe i have some learning to do but dont you want to take a gravity reading after you have reached your total volume? Isnt your target gravity based on a certain volume?
