I usually soak mine in warm water with oxyclean. It gets the smell out pretty well. Then just rinse well and sanitize and you're ready to go!

Probably would be cheaper to just use one can with a couple pounds DME and some MD. That is how I made mine and I really liked it, plenty of flavor and very clear after a wk in the primary.

No, not exactly, but I've only had stuff floating at the top surface (after a week+ in primary) a couple times. Usually the top is pretty clear and free of floaties.

Thanks for the input. Have only had this occur a couple times before. This time I used Munton's Dry yeast so not sure that would cause it.
