I feel your pain. I made about 40 gallons before I got to taste a brew with potable water hose water. It all tastes like crap!!! Anyone need 125 feet of potable hose.

I cool my wort before it goes to the ferm, and I too have read that the wort should be cooled quickly so that yeast can be added as soon as possible to reduce risk of contamination and other reasons...
