You could try getting them a little bit warmer for a week or two, maybe around 80F and see if that kicks the yeast back into gear. Not speaking from personal experience but you could give it a shot....

I would stay away from your minifridge idea unless you buy a prefab one. You usually have to bend the freezer element out of the way which is very easy to damage and once its broken its worthless....
