sounds like a long a$$ 15 minutes. I've used a 5 gallon paint strainer bag (sanitized) and just added the fruit. That way its contained and can be removed easily.

Run hot water to remove the maple... use a barolkleen solution for 3 days... sanitize with sodium meta. and citric acid... rinse, rack, age, enjoy

I dont think you could get a zip tie secured tight enough. Plus its made of who knows what type of plastic.
