I use the cheap dollar store oxi-clean stuff for all my cleaning needs. it's dirt cheap and will peel labels off no prob... does a nice job on the buckets too. always soak em overnight and never ever...

you really only need the beer in the swamp cooler for the first couple days of active fermenation, most ferm is done in the first 48 hours, the rest is negligible to the taste.

it's cheap stuff. I've done over 60 brews the last couple years and I'm just STARTING to run out of my first bottle.. only like $2 a bottle too

yeah, wlp0001 has a funky sour note to it when I wash mine. I'm a cheap ass so I ALWAYS wash and re-use yeasts. especially liquid and I've had incredible luck up till now. I'm just glad it got caught...

whelp, thanks for the help guys. I did a 2 day long starter and poured in the bucket about 6 1/2 hours ago and I'm just starting to get bubbles.. looks like it wasn't as dead as I worried about

I'll give it a try... it's a pretty simple pale ale so it shouldn't hurt it too bad. another though I had was sub amber malt extract for the munich since it has a bit of munich in it.

you'll be fine. a hefe brewed hot will get more banana esters, but that's exactly the way I like them. I do all my hefe's at 72-74 and they turn out really good.

you shouldn't have bottle bombs. I routinely do 7 ounces of sugar for my hefeweizen's and Saisons and have NEVER had a bottle bomb... your beer will be a bit over carbed, but nothing too bad.

kewl, I was just going to do another batch of the same IPA (about a 6% brew at most) and the slurry was nearly 1/3 (maybe 1/4th) of the total cake so it was quite a bunch.... I'll just pitch and go...

I pulled a pint of slurry from my IPA on monday... thought I was gonna brew in 2 days but I won't be able to till sunday night/monday morning... is it still good to pull and use straight away or...
