Whole foods sells apple cider in 1 gallon glass jugs. I ferment the cider, then re-use the jugs for mead.

I think you're just asking for trouble by heating the pot with the bottles inside. The bottom of that pot with stove on, will get way hotter than the water. If those bottles are touching the bottom...

Sorry I don't have any insight into the pre-2009 version. The 2012 version is probably the best brown ale I have ever had. I would love some recipe info on that if anybody has anything to share.

I agree. But whether they use the silver cloud extract our create their own, this sounds like the closest a homebrewer may be able to get. What is the consensus on the base recipe at this point?

Yeah sorry. Used the pliers to pull the pieces out. I was able to get my jug clean with a bottle brush. Just bend the brush as needed to get the angles. Then sanitize with StarSan.

I just checked beermenus.com and the Founders Red's RyePA is selling everywhere around Chicago in 6-packs for $9.99. I haven't looked in person to confirm, but I can't imagine all those listings...

The yeast will start fermenting that added sugar. You'll need to wait for stable gravity readings again and then start the bottling process over with new priming sugar.

Pappers.... Do you think it would change the beer much other than a little higher gravity and maybe a little darker to increase the Pale Malt to 9lbs and the Caramel20 to 1lb? Just easier to buy in...
