I suggested 5 pounds of extract in the recipe to make up for lower efficiency for a first time partial mash. I assumed 60%, but maybe he'll get better. When I ran the numbers it only put him just...

I personally always preferred dry. Its got better shelf life so you know it'll be fresh. If you get your ingredients from a place with higher ingredient turnover though, it really shouldn't matter...

I'm assuming this will be for a five gallon batch and that you'll be topping up in the fermenter? IF thats the case, lets assume a 3.5 gal boil down to 2.5 going into the fermenter, and topping up...

That's a damn good beer by a great brewery! That's awesome that they gave out the recipe. I've noticed on their site they started listing the malts and hops used for a number of their beers. I'm...

You need to give at least two weeks for any style to carb up. After that, it depends on the style. Hoppy beers and a lot of wheat beers are generally better young, so when they're carbed you can...

Looks like a tasty recipe! Might want to consider a 90 minute boil though. I don't have a lot of experience with Pilsner malt, but I've read that a 90 minute boil will get rid of any DMS, which can...

As far as I know, calculated IBUs tend to get less accurate once you get up past 100. I know recipes for beers like Pliney the Elder have a calculated IBU in the 200's, but the actual measured IBU...

You could try to add some sulfate at bottling time, like you said, dissolve it with your priming solution. I know there are bittering extracts if you search that you can add post fermentation, but...

I've used zythos with Simcoe, Centennial, and Columbus in an APA. I couldn't pick up its specific flavor, but it played well with those hops. I've got a SMaSH beer going with it, it should be ready...

Stpug, that's a great looking recipe! I might drop the crystal altogether then and use Victory to get some color. That's a nice looking hop schedule too, I might just add some Zythos in there to...

This is straying a bit from your Plineyish base recipe, but what I do for my IPAs to get some color without using a bunch of crystal is to use light Munich malt in place of a pound or two of 2 Row. ...
