This sort of thing (http://www.amazon.com/Microplane-40020-Classic-Zester-Grater/dp/B00004S7V8) works the best but you can also use a classic box grater. Just avoid the white pith.

4-5 oranges...

Glad you're liking it...now you know how much to add if you want an orange bomb. In the original recipe it's not 'hit in you in the face' orange. You really need to know what you're looking for...
