If your old probe was/is a "J" or "K" type, they measure temperature where the two wires touch.

You can strip back your old probe wiring and twist the ends together and see what you get.

Place it as close to the box as you want. Please use one of the original panel knockouts. Any one will do. (Preferably staying away from the mains)

I'd use a 4" x 4" outdoor box as it looks better...

Besides electronics, you could plumb in a bypass.

If the output is always more than you need, hard plumb a 1/4" or 3/8" line from the outlet...
