Honestly I would say to wait the recommended 2-3...

Honestly I would say to wait the recommended 2-3 days until you switch to the airlock. I did mine a few hours before 72 hours and so far so good.

Just my opinion though.

Dried "Beer" in Blowoff Tube

I brewed my first all-grain batch in over a year this morning and only had used the Mr. Beer kegs previously, never used a "carboy" that required a blowoff tube.
