Constantly getting lower than expected OG and FG, help!
Could this be the issue? So I start with 3.5 gallons of water to boil, after 60 minutes I end with about 3, then top off with an additional 2. So that totals 5.5 gallons. Is this my problem?

Yep, I Used 8lbs lme and 1 lb lactose. Tasted it during transfer, not too sweet at all. Plan on adding cold pressed coffee to it as well. Thanks.

So, I too am making the transition to full boil. If I was to come up short of 5 gallons after boil, would I still need to top off to get to 5 in my primary? Or am I just gonna have less beer?
