That's true but air is a great insulator and natural wood tends to have pockets of air internally as well as between the two collar layers.

I will. I used weather stripping under the collar and just left the lid rubber to seal the top of the collar. So far I can't feel any air leakage and the compressor doesn't come on very often....

The outer collar is Red Oak, the inside is pine. If you want to save some money, poplar is much cheaper and looks almost as good stained.

Thanks for the responses! I'm just trying to find a way to list my beers on a black keezer and have it look classy. Seems like dry erase would work better than chaulk, which always looks 'dusty'.
