If you've added cherry to the secondary then you've added more fermentables which will excite the yeast again, I shouldn't think you have an infection, especially if it smells fine, Healthy...

What kind of wierd flavour was it, was a a bad taste or just a strange one? Could be the way they were pored, were you careful not to disturb the yeast in the bottom?

You have nothing to worry about there, 1014 is fine for Wherry, the problems you here about with Woodfordes kits are to do with the gravity getting stuck around 1020, you've reached the Target...
