What? Are you sure you're not thinking a case is a 12Pack. I've seen 12 packs for around $10 (rarely) but never, ever a case of beer (24ct).

I've always used unboiled tap water to top off as well. It really depends on the cleanliness of your local water supply. Your city should have available documention on both water characteristics...
