I do not see any problem with that. Boiling longer could limit your final volume and raise the gravity, but for 10 or 20 minutes, that does not seem to be a problem.

Aha! You have over carbonated it! I've done exactly the same thing. With hoppy beers, I find the taste profile is better at lower pressures (20-25 psi). Anything above 25 might acidify the beer too...

I am not sure if the lactic acid in the sparge affected the taste, but I do know that 1/3 tsp for 6 gal is not enough to bring the pH to 5.2-5.4 range. I calculated the pH (based on neutral water)...
