What's the latest on confirmed dealers selling the 1.0 version? I bought my stc-1000 (before this project was around) off ebay, but it's a 1.1 version. I'd like to pick up a 1.0 and give this a shot.

I recently got the 5cu ft version of this freezer for a fermentation chamber. I'm amazed at how much you can fit in the 7cu ft version. Keep the updates coming :mug:

I think the reason for 2 pumps on a single tier system is for sparging. You can probably get away with one pump if you want to keep switching lines during sparge. Hlt -> mlt (switch) mlt -> bk.

I notice a plastic taste from some brands of beverage line. I replaced my lines a few months ago with line from austinhomebrew and haven't noticed it since.

If you're sure temp isn't an issue, I would suspect the lines next. With a larger diameter line, there's not enough resistance to keep the co2 in the beer.

I have the sq14. it does fine with my 5 gal batches (7.5 gal full boil), and I can usually get at least 4 batches from a tank of propane.

Don't forget, once you set the regulator and get it dialed in, you'll rarely have to look at it. My regulator is right on the other side of my kegerator and i don't think i've seen it for 4 months.

most of the local cheap places have been cleared out. the chi company used to sell 4 for $80, but he got cleared out a couple years ago. your best bet now is probably either original homebrew outlet...

I try to do it when I finish a keg -- makes it easier when i'm ready to hook up the next keg. sometimes i'm lazy and do it every other keg though.. so maybe 2-3 months at most.

One of the things that helped me out early on was...

One of the things that helped me out early on was a pump.. it was nice not to have to lift the mash tun, or buckets of water.

After that, a brew stand to connect the pump to was nice too :-)
