I did a "volunteer" day at a local microbrew and they used Patcote 376 in their 15bbl system. Interestingly they had it in 1gal jugs (vs 50gal barrels)

Update - 3 years on and it's still going strong. Once i forgot/got lazy and didn't clean out the fermentor after kegging. A month or two later i discovered the nasty mess inside and just filled it...

Does it look like your co2 tank? then it should be fine to take to a gas supply. If it's small and red, then no (disposable), and if it's skinny/shiny with a small reg then most likely a medical unit...

i have 2 banjo burners on my regulator and while the tank is coated with ice the propane flows. I do have it painted black and sitting in the sun.

You might be opening up the propane too high....
