Just a suggestion, try heating your mash water on the stovetop. My electric range isn't hot enough for a full boil, but its plenty good to get mash temps. That would at least save you a trip now...

Yeah, that was hilarious. Especially since he kept going on about a "malfunction" as if it wasn't his fault. The only malfunction was that he had poor muzzle awareness and his finger on the trigger.

Still had the airlock on, right? The agitation probably just released CO2 that was in solution. You'll be fine most likely.

As long as it's stored dry, away from animals/bugs, and not in extreme temps it should keep far longer than you would ever need. I wouldn't really worry about it going bad.
