You can pitch when it gets in range if you feel like it. I sometimes have to pitch at 75-80 even if I'm cooling down further because I'm going out of town. I haven't noticed any problems or off...

I do the same. I have the basket.

I put on the lid if I add flameout hops to keep the aroma in the wort. Otherwise no. And yes, there is some level of disagreement as to whether that actually...

Make sure the pump it primed. After is it primed and a flow established it is OK to close the output valve (or any valve downstream) and it will not affect the pump.

I would clean it before use,...

Yes, embrace the bees. I have 2 hives in the back yard. Yes, they come around, but they don't bother anything, and they drink much less than my brewing buddies :mug:

It's the yellowjackets you...

I use a conical, so I dump yeast periodically during the lagering process. I guess technically it is all in the primary, though.

I have a Kal clone and use a bcs instead of PIDs for temp control. I usually get 83 to 86% efficiency, but on occaision it will dip into the mid-high 70s. No rhyme or reason for it. In case it helps,...

Toss it, it can lead to contamination. If you are concerned about the volume of beer it takes to get a reading, then I suggest a refractometer. It uses only a few drops. Upside, less beer waste....

If you adjust, use a feeler gauge (find one on eBay for 2-5 bucks). I think the barley crusher is factory set at .39" or something. I set mine to .45" for a looser crush as I'm getting 85% efficiency...
