that makes sense explained that way... could i do an effective mash with one kettle though (lack of funds and i only have one)... paying attention to the water to grain ratio and just adding more...

I've also been concerned with the difference...

I've also been concerned with the difference between these too... What i normally do with my extract brews is put the grains in a nylon bag and soak them in about 2.5 gal of water in my brew pot...
