With just mesh braid you might get a channelling...

With just mesh braid you might get a channelling effect on the flow of the water with fly sparging. A false bottom for even flow of water will help or batch sparge.

Just started 1 gal ginger mead yesterday. 2lbs honey and 3 oz ginger boiled for ten minutes and then honey added at flame out. Used lalvin 1118.

Russian imperial stout yeast questions.

I have 4 gallons of 1.090 og stout that has been fermenting for 9 days. Gravity is now at 1.022. No activity in air lock. Is that about as low as I can get? Pitched big starter of whitbread 1099....

Ya. Did that on a ipa that had cedar chips in the secodary and was too over powering pine taste. so I added more hops to the keg. Have you ever removed the hops and replaced with more once carbed?

Nice can't wait. Next time I'll probably do a five gallon batch if it turns out good. Racked to secondary after about two weeks. Now how long before I bottle? It's starting to clear nicely.
