I did a Surly Furious clone with 8.5 oz of dry hops once. Not only do I feel it was completely unnecessary, I swear it gave it an unwanted sweetness.

My Heady attempt turned out to be phenol city. Very peppery, enough so to mostly dominate all the hops. I fermented at 63/64.

Yup, everything in original recipe plus a pound of flaked oats scaled up to 1.063 in beersmith. Highest FG I could get was 1.017 with a mash temp of 157/158.
