If you fill it to the brim and put a rubber stopper in it, you would also risk temperature change (increase in temperature causing expansion of the liquid) pushing the plug out.

I once aged a stout on oak cubes for a year before bottling and spaces out and forgot to add yeast. It still carbed up, it just took longer. Not that I advocate doing that on purpose but it worked....

Try Winco. I believe their pots are 1/4" thick. I ended upvgoing with Thunder Group though. Some of the reviews guessed they were 1/4" and they were cheaper. Went with the 25 gallon pot myself :D
