blow-off tudes are the way to go IMO....... don't ever have to worry about exploding beer due to a clogged air-lock....

hmmm 2 1/2 pounds does sound lite........ I would think that would prob only yeild around 3% abv.

as for the carboy its better to use the 5 gallon for the secondary but it probably won't bother...
