Question if you were looking for a specific...
Question if you were looking for a specific target out of your mash then why did you settle for 1.040? A longer mash at the correct temperatures would have done the job for you.

I personally don't see anything wrong with that plastic ...as long as it hold pressure you'll be fine...if you don't trust it then replace it but it would be only for peace of mind.
