No, I didn't find it rough as a bittering hop. Maybe the maltiness of MO levelled it out a bit more than a pilsner or other lighter malt would. However, if I were to do this beer again I think I'd...

I did a MO-Nelson smash last year - albeit with a touch of carapils.

I was very pleased with it - it made a great summer beer. Here's my recipe:...

Yes, that's what I was thinking. Instead of fixing a tap to a fridge, why not just hook the keg up to the drinks dispenser?

Fridge drinks dispenser kegerator?

Has anyone ever hooked up a fridge drinks dispenser to a keg? If so, how successful was it?

I usually set it at about 2psi. In fact, I don't always use pressure to dispense - it often has enough pressure from priming and sealing the keg to get me halfway through, when I'll put the gas on as...

I use two methods which can produce mouthfeel, flavour and condition similar to cask with the bonus of the beer remaining fresh for a significant length of time:

1. Prime a cornelius keg to...

Kriek advice needed - fresh cherries from the garden

I have a cherry tree in my garden, and, instead of leaving them for wasps and blackbirds, I plan to use the next crop in a kriek.

I haven't made a kriek (or a lambic at all, for that matter) so...

Would you recommend secondary-ing the perry?

Or will I be fine to do what I usually do with beer: primary for 3-4 weeks, then bottle?

How long should I leave it mature in the bottle before...

Well, I got 4 gallons of juice from my apples and pears!

I added some sugar to bring it up to 1.050, and some campden tablets, followed by champagne yeast a day later. It seems to be fermenting...

I have no idea what the local strains are like down in west Wales. I'm torn between adding a campden tablet or not... I'm definitely using a champagne yeast either way though - would the yeast...

Thanks Yooper!

Do I need to use a campden tablet or should I risk whatever yeast is on the pears and apples?

Do you think my juicing with a handblender idea would work?

Making perry/cider without a press? What pears do I have?!

Hi all,

I've been making beer for a few years now, but I'm just about to make my first foray into the world of cider.

My parents have apple and pear trees in their garden, and have given me...

I'm not too bothered about exact volumes of co2, just a gentle carbonation, which will be about right for a kellerbier.

I use a not-too-disimilar method when I've cornied other beers - I rack...

Kegging/barrelling before fermentation has finished

I'm planning a kellerbier this winter, and I've been thinking, would it work if I kegged or barrelled beer during late fermentation? This could then produce enough carbon dioxide to gently carbonate...

It's a pressure barrel. You'll need to prime with less than you would for bottling (go for 90g for a 5 gallon batch), then use CO2 injection (either through 5g bulbs or and s30 or similar canister)...
