Some of my favorite stouts have been just between American and Imperial with a good amount of Columbus, Cascade, Willamette or Warrior. Guideline wise they'd fit into both categories.

I like both of those strains. Most of my lagers are at FG in a week but I still tend to leave them at room temp for a few days then crash them to 30F or so for lagering.
