Ditto "Bells"

My pick for the quintessential Michigan beer, Bells Two Hearted.

Take that and Oberon, those two would be my desert island beers.

Yes on the dry hop

I do intend to dry hop. I will surely post back upon my side by side comparison. I may dry hop w .5 oz each Saaz and Cascade. Again, pulling back on hops. Oberon just strikes me as malt forward,...

Jhoss tries for Oberon again, 3rd try

Some arbitrary notes:
Barley Crushed the grist the night before (Crypto's 6,4,.5). Twice decocted. Boiled off a little too much...OG 1068. 60 mins. Loss of 1.5 gals.
Fly sparged, collected 6.3...

Guiness is in my top 5

And, one reason why...When you walk into a "old-school" bar...and all the macros are proudly on display - you can usually luck out and there will be a tap for Guiness. Saved the day on many an...

I think you nailed it here...

4 weeks in the primary...stuck at 1026 (from 1066). I bottled the now-sweet porter. I think I will bomb-proof the carbonation area.

Yep - lean hard on 1272

Because I'm a cheap b@stard, I harvest, make starters, reuse as much as I can. I think I paid 7 or 8 bucks for the 1272 originally. May as well cut that cost out of the equation with a little work...
