What was the specific gravity of your wort?
With a 600ml starter you didn't get very much growth out of your yeast, but you didn't hurt the little guys either, if anything you upped their vitality...

If they are just dead hulls then, yeah, they would end up being nutrient for the live yeast.
But that's a pretty warm "soup" they've been sitting in, I don't imaging they fared to well in that...

From my understanding of starters; after 24 hrs of fermenting it goes either into the fridge, or into your wort.
Letting it sit out for 3 days is not a good idea.

Probably just means that it krausen's like a mofo. Letting it blow-off would not hurt it any more than it would any other strain.

I'm not really sure how to convert DME...

They don't seem to get sticky from the evaporation.
I like them much better than foil, especially when I'm chilling my wort as I can...
